Rail journeys in India are a special experience. The railway is a "traditional company" that works incredibly precisely. At ticket prices that are so low that I had to calculate several times before I believed that there was no calculation error. Therefore, the trains are usually fully booked weeks in advance, especially the first tier sleepers, which you should definitely use for the journey Delhi - Jaipur. The tickets are available from Indian Railways on the Internet as Online tickets orderable. There you can see the timetable, all classes and the number of places that can still be booked. Attention when departing from Delhi: The train station is not (!) New Delhi, but Old Delhi.

The light displays distributed across the platform tell you where which wagon will come to a stop. Seat arrangement, train arrangement and track can be set up in advance in an app such as Where is my train look up. Travelers without a smartphone take a luggage rack to get to the right platform. He then also knows where the right car is. The trains are very long, but are ready long before departure in Delhi, for example. Once you have found the right car, a computer printout is attached to the door with the names of all those booked.

The front side of the Hawa Mahal on the western side of Ajmer Road is probably one of the most photographed places in Rajasthan. For a good photo from across the street, local merchants offer to visit their shop there on the third floor. It is expected that you will then buy something in the store. Instead, I tried to give the shopkeeper 100 rupees and he was very offended.
The Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 by Maharaja Pratap Singh with the help of the architect Usta Lal Chand. The peculiarity of the building is the guidance of wind tunnels, which gave the ladies-in-waiting a pleasant atmosphere when visiting the festivities and ceremonies at court. If the visitor comes from the direction of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), he walks on the edge of a wide avenue between Ramniwas Garden and the Zoological Garden towards the stylistically surprising and fantastic building. The style of the same is called Indo-Persian, but is also said to contain essential elements of contemporary English architecture. The museum covers a wide range of exhibits on two floors. The Indian public is very interested in an Egyptian mummy that the governor at the time had transferred. But the early Buddhist (e.g. Boddhisatva) and Hindu (e.g. Shiva) stone sculptures, the miniatures (e.g. Raga Bhairon, although the meaning of this title could not be clarified for me) scroll paintings from Rajasthan, the weapons collection (e.g. Iranian helmet; because of the splendid decorations); the textile patterns and a group of clay figures representing different yoga postures.
