Understand

The village of Jericoacoara is in the State of Ceará, well in the northwest of the state, approximately 300 km from Fortaleza. It is a still unknown region when compared to locations with the same potential for tourism, such as safe harbor, Port of Chickens, Genipabu and many others. The region in which the village is located is under Ibama protection. The population there is well aware of the need to preserve nature. In Jeri, tourists can enjoy beautiful natural landscapes: mobile and immovable dunes. The best known, the sunset dune, serves as a meeting point in the late afternoons for those who want to catch a glimpse of the "sunset within the sea", the only place in mainland Brazil where this is possible. The edge of Jeri is of constant movement and great for those who enjoy windsurfing. Further west of the village, it is possible to visit, in addition to a village that was buried by the dunes: ancient Tatajuba, beautiful lagoons such as Lagoa de Tatajuba, Lagoa Azul and Lagoa do Paraíso. All have a structure to welcome tourists. Of course, for a few hours, accommodation is only available in the village of Jericoacoara or in the city of Jijoca, which is just a few kilometers from the village.

On the trip to Jeri you are guaranteed to get what you want: tranquility, fun, adventure or ecotourism. Jeri will even give you plenty, believe me. But remember: it is a little piece of paradise because until then nature has been respected and, as far as possible, the advance of man on it, however, it is the obligation of everyone who visits it to respect this divine creation of indescribable splendor.

To arrive

To get to the village it is necessary to make a trip of approximately 30km through the dunes that separate Jeri from Jijoca. The most sensible is to use a 4x4 traction vehicle or a Buggy. Some even manage to make this trip in passenger vehicles, but it is not recommended.

Fretcar buses leave the Fortaleza bus station daily to Jijoca, a municipality near Jericoacoara. From there, you have to get a gardener that goes through the sand without getting bogged down, but it is possible to buy both tickets (Jijoca jardineira) at the bus station, in a single ticket.

It is possible to buy tickets that depart directly from the airport too, but be prepared as the trip is exhausting.

Look

Getting to know the Paraíso and Azul lagoons cannot be left out either; these places can be reached by buggy found in the main square. But prepare your pocket! It is possible to visit Pedra Furada in a pleasant walk. To get there, you can take the beach at low tide or cross the Serrote, which is also an excellent point to enjoy the rock formations from a higher point. Don't miss the Pôr do Sol dune at 5:40 pm, approximately, when the sun begins to set in the sea, then watch the traditional capoeira roda on the beach. Another interesting point is Tatatjuba, but only by buggy or quad bike to get there.

Knife

Tatajuba is a still unspoilt beach with indescribable beauty, it is possible to rent a quad bike for two people with a guide at a moderate price. On the tour you can get to know other beautiful spots such as the dry mangrove swamp and the Seahorse nursery. To cross the Guriú river arm, there are small boats that take quads in a few minutes. If you want to take a little bit of Brazilian culture, take some Capoeira classes.
