Urban centers

  • Nanjing (Nanjing) - Located 300 km northwest of Shanghai and washed by the Yangzi River. Nanjing is a city of 8,000,000 inhabitants (2010). With a long and continuous history behind it, Nanjing is today a variegated industrial center where European multinationals such as Iveco and the Volkswagen group also operate. Nanjing is also a very pleasant city of culture to visit.
  • Suzhou - On the shore of Lake Tai, Suzhou is a city with interesting museums and beautiful gardens that have earned it its inclusion in the list of World Heritage Sites.
  • Tongli - Nicknamed the Venice of the East, Tongli is also a city of gardens.
  • Wuxi - Located on the shores of islet-strewn Lake Tai, Wuxi is a city of canals located 174 km from Nanjing On the way to Shanghai.
  • Zhenjiang - Another major industrial city, Zhenjiang is wet like Nanjing (from which it is 84 km east), from the Yangzi River but has less tourist interest.
