The administrative region of Kalmar is situated in the eastern part of Götaland and comprises the eastern part of the historical province (landskap) of Småland and the island of Oland.
It borders on administrative regions Blekinge, Kronoberg, Jönköping and Östergötland and to the east with the Baltic Sea.
