Kaltenbach is a small town on the Ziller im Zillertal in the Schwaz district of the state Tyrol, Austria. Despite only about 1170 inhabitants, Kaltenbach is an important winter sports resort with the winter sports area Hochfügen-Hochzillertal.

The entire Zillertal is between Jenbach and Mayrhofen of the Zillertal Railway developed every hour. Steam train rides are also offered (every Wednesday in winter).

Practical advice

An astonishing bad habit in Kaltenbach inns, but also in many catering stations in the ski area (except for ski pass sales) is the lack of acceptance of any credit or EC (or Maestro) cards, so always take enough cash with you.
