Kampong Thom(Khmer: ក្រុង កំពង់ធំ), officially: Krong Stueng Saen, is a city in Cambodia and the capital of the province of the same name.

You can go with the car. Departure in Phnom Penh is on the southwest corner of Central Market. The van costs 8,000 riels, the taxi 12,000 riels. The journey takes two hours, or you can take one of the many buses that connect Siem Reap with Phnom Penh or Kompong Cham and get off at Kompong Thom. However, it is customary in Cambodia to pay full price even in such a case.

The town itself is small enough to be able to walk to everything. You can get to Sambor Prei Kuk by motorcycle taxi in about an hour ($ 6 return trip), and Phnom Santuk in 30 to 40 minutes ($ 4 return trip).

The center of Kompong Thom is dominated by the market. There is everything for your daily needs here. There are also a few shops around the market.

The usual food stalls are located around the market. A very good restaurant that is very popular with the locals is located a few meters south of the western end of the market. You have to get by without an English menu here, but it's worth it. The Arunras Restaurant (at the guesthouse of the same name) is also highly recommended and has a very extensive English menu.
nightlife
There is no "night life" in Kompong Thom. In the evening, the food and drink stands between the market and the main street are very popular and a pleasant place to have a fresh fruit juice or a beer.
