background

The Kayseri, which was previously called Mazaca, became increasingly important than the star of Kanesch (today's Kültepe ) began to decline. As Eusebeia, Kayseri became the capital of the Cappadocian kingdom until it was conquered by the Romans and renamed Caesarea. Cappadocia was no longer a kingdom, but only a Roman province, but under the administration of Caesarea. Byzantines, Seljuks, Mameluks, Mongols and finally the Ottomans followed. Early 20th century if Kayseri had come close to becoming the capital, it had to end in the end Ankara give up.

The residents of Kayseri are known all over Turkey for their intelligence and negotiating skills. According to legend, Marco Polo is said to have been put on an overpriced carpet here. Another legend is about a son who sold his father's donkey to his father again with a new coat of paint.

This swamp area used to be an absolute highlight for bird watching. For agricultural reasons, the swamp was drained a few years ago, which of course was not without consequences, because the birds stayed away. You learned from that. Water is now being let into the area again and the birds are returning.
