Kačanik - Kačanik

Kačanik (also Kaçaniku) is a small town in the south of Kosovo. The city is nestled in a valley near the border with North Macedonia. The national road, which Skopje (North Macedonia) and Pristina connects, leads through the place.

The small town can be reached by train from Hani I Elezit or Pristina and Ferizaj. The trains serve both directions twice a day. The train station is in the center.

By bus

Kačanik can be easily reached by bus. All buses that run between Pristina / Ferizaj and Skopje stop in Kačanik. There is also a bus connection to Brezovica. The journey from Pristina to Kačanik costs around € 3.

In the street

Kačanik can also be reached from Ferizaj by taxi. The trip costs around € 5. Taxis leave from the bus station in Ferizaj and mostly go to Skopje, but you can get off in Kačanik.

A visit to the mosque is very worthwhile Koxha Sinan Pasha. It is one of the oldest buildings in the city and is located on the bank of the river Nerodimja, near the southern bridge over the river.

A stroll along the river promenade in the evening is a very nice experience. The promenade is always very busy in the evening and many locals stroll across the street or meet in one of the numerous cafes and bars.

Traditional hikes take place in Kačanik every Sunday. Large groups of locals make their way into the surrounding mountainous landscape. More detailed information about the hikes and the meeting point is available in almost every café.

A very good fish restaurant is located below the mountain village Ivajë. From Kačanik take the small road towards Ivajë. Two kilometers after the village Gajre A dirt road branches off to the left of the road and after a few hundred meters you reach the restaurant.

A trip to the small villages is worthwhile by car Ivajë andShtraza. The villages are located in a beautiful mountain landscape.

Brezovica is a small mountain village where ski lifts are open in winter.

About 100 km north of Kačanik is Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. A ride on the train from Kačanik to Ferizaj is particularly nice (price: € 1.50).

It is a good idea to continue traveling to Skopje. It costs around € 10 by taxi. Buses leave regularly from the bus station.
