Kiev has two airports:

  • 1 Borispol International Airport (IATA : KBP, Міжнародний аеропорт "Бориспіль") Logo indicating a link to the website (located at 30 km in the south-east of the city) – This airport is made up of three terminals: terminals D (the most modern and largest) and F for international flights and terminal B for domestic flights. The busSkybus connects to Vokzalna train station and metro stop for 40 UAH. Departure every 15 min. The price of a trip to the city center in Taxi is at least 200 UAH. You have to negotiate the fare before getting in the taxi.
  • 2 Kiev-Zuliany (IATA : IEV, аеропорт "Жуляни") Logo indicating a link to the website Vul. Medova, 2 (closer to the city center, at 7 km) – Offers much less air connections. Wizzair is the main company using this airport. The bus 9 connects this airport to the central railway station and to the Vokzalna metro station. Bus 78 goes to Vasylkivska metro station and trolleybus 22 goes to Dorohozhychi metro station. The Volynsky train station is also nearby, and trains run from this station to the central station.

  • 3 Central Station (Київ-Пасажирський, Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi) Vokzalnaya, 1 (Close to the city center, Vokzalna metro stop)

The night train connecting Slovakia / Hungary to Kiev passes through Lvov. He arrives towards h in the morning at the station. It is one of the most modern lines in Ukraine.

Kiev has a modern, punctual, regular and clean network. It was created in 1960. Its 3 lines have 40 stations, and offer 56 kilometers of track. The stations in the city center are as much worth a look as those in Moscow or St Petersburg. A funicular connects the city center (on the hill) from the banks of the Dnieper.

Metro: Kontraktova Ploscha) – At the top of this steep and cobbled little street, sometimes nicknamed the “Montmartre de Kiev”, is the Saint-André church. The street, where many celebrities lived, including Mikhail Bulgakov (the author of the book "The Master and Margarita"), is lined with souvenir vendors, restaurants, galleries and museums. Tourist street but it retains its charm.

Laure of the Caves

The Cave Lavra (Печерська лавраn) is a large monastery with a large number of churches and the most sacred place in Ukraine. It is often divided between the high Laure and the low Laure (free entry).

    • 7 Bell tower of the great Laure (Велика Лаврська дзвіниця) Logo indicating a link to the website – Main bell tower of the monastery. It was built between 1731 and 1745 and measures 96.5 meters. It is neoclassical in style and is decorated with many columns.
    • 8 Church of the Trinity (Троїцька Надбрамна церква)  – This church serves as an entrance to the Lavra. It is in Ukrainian Baroque style and has been rebuilt several times throughout its history.
    • 9 Cathedral of the Dormition (Успенський собор) Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Main Cathedral of Lavra built between 1073 and 1078. The interior is decorated with mosaics and frescoes.
    • 10 Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine (Музей історичних коштовностей України)  – In the Kovnirivskyi building, which was a former convent bakery built in the XVIIe century and rebuilt in 1744-1745. The museum's collection includes 56,000 archaeological and applied art pieces. Here is the Martynivka Treasure (Мартинівський скарб), consisting of around 120 silver objects dating from AD 400 to 900. J.-C found in the village of Martynivka in 1909.
    • 11 Ukrainian folk art museum (Музей народного декоративного мистецтва)  – The collection includes more than 75,000 folkloric works and pieces of decorative art from the 15th to XXe centuries.

    • 12 Nearby caves (Ближні печери) (Entrance through the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross) – Enter the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, buy a candle (2 UAH, obligatory and useful since the caves are not lit) and descend into the catacombs. Only part of the network of tunnels is open to tourists and some priests watch that everyone is playing along. "Pilgrims only" signs mark out the areas closed to tourists. Glass coffins containing mummies (covered with a sheet) are placed in the corridors. When there are not many people (on weekdays), this visit is a memorable experience: many pilgrims pray, cry, chant, kiss the coffins, all only lit by candle.
    • 13 Distant caves (Дальні печери)  – Relics of 49 saints, accompanied by plaques with names and icons. The total length of the underground tunnels is 293 m.

Some islands of the Dnieper have sandy beaches. In summer, the inhabitants bathe there or practice the boat.

One of these beaches has a fun number of weight machines. If their look is not the most selling, we will not hold it against: they are free. They were made from scrap metal left over by the Red Army when it left after independence.

Be careful, vodka is forbidden to stay in the parks of Kiev!

For nightlife in Kiev, you have the arena at the end of Kiev's main street (Krechatik Street) where you will find two nightclubs and a casino. You also have the wato bar, which is open 24 h on 24 and 7 days a week, which is opposite Krechatik square on the main street in central kiev.
