Great Clinics large village in West Pomeranian Voivodeship. This place may not be interesting for tourists, but it is charming due to the surrounding Puszcza Goleniów.

Information

History

The most ancient history

The first traces of people's stay come only from the Younger Stone Age. Before that, there was a glacier here and there was nowhere to live. When he yielded, the animals appeared first, followed by man. In the 2nd century BC peoples from the Black Sea came here, and with them - corded ceramics.

Mieszko I

Under Mieszko I, these lands belonged to Poland for a short period of time. The reason for this membership was the victory of Mieszko over the German army of margrave Hodon at Cedynia on June 27, 972. However, the possession of these areas was not in the interests of Bolesław the Brave, who, by entering into a conflict with the German Empire, contributed to the creation of an anti-Polish alliance of Pomeranians with Emperor Henry II. In this way, we lost Pomerania. Later, this area passed from hand to hand, but it did not matter much for Kliniska.

Rise of the village

The first mention of the village (or rather villages) comes from 1754, when Gross Christinenberg and Klein Christinenberg were founded, named after the wife of King Frederick II - Krystyna (Christina). The village was situated on a street plan. In 1827 it had 425 inhabitants. Until the end of the 19th century, most of them were engaged in agriculture. After the railway line that runs through Kliniska was put into operation today, many railroad workers found work and settled here, and later foresters, woodcutters and craftsmen. The village was constantly developing, and after the war it "absorbed" many smaller colonies.

Geography

The town is located on the edge of the Goleniów Forest - it is surrounded by forests and fields. The area is quite flat. There are no rivers or lakes (except for a small forest pond that is too dirty to bathe in).

Climate

As in all of Poland - cold in winter, warm in summer.

When to go

Preferably at the end of September, because then there are mushrooms and the Goleniów Forest Marathon (last Saturday of the month). Even if we don't want to run, it's worth coming and cheering on the athletes. On this occasion, the Forest District organizes the Great Mushroom Picking. There are also various types of lotteries and contests.

Railway station

In Kliniska, at Kolejowa Street, there is an old railway station building with two passenger platforms where only regional trains stop. Currently, the building has only a waiting room (shabby, but still), without ticket offices - you can buy tickets from the conductor, paying the same as at the ticket offices.

By car

There is a poor road infrastructure in the village: there are streets, quasi-sidewalks (narrow, it is scary to walk, and in addition, electric poles stand in the middle of the pavement instead of next to the pavement) and a kind of roundabout (at a small intersection someone wanted to build a roundabout and now trucks either they are going through the center or they catch on the posts on the sidewalk). But still, the connection with the rest of the world is good - you can get here by the national 6 and minor country roads via Pucice or Rurzyca.

Security

There are straight roads and slightly less straight sidewalks in Kliniska, but due to the large number of trucks (a local branch of one of the courier companies, as well as the levying of charges on trucks running on the S1 road), you should be especially careful in some places.
