Maulbronn Monastery is a former Cistercian monastery in Maulbronn.

history

  • The Cistercian monastery Maulbronn was founded in the 12th century.
  • It was abolished by the Reformation in the 16th century. The core area has since been used as a boarding school. The farm yard was used for secular purposes.
  • The monastery and the outdoor facilities were largely preserved in the pre-Reformation complex.
  • Since 1993 UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • The main systems are supported by the "Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg"

Lakes, including "Tiefer See", were created to supply the monastery. They still feed the fountain in the cloister today. The "deep lake" has been an outdoor swimming pool since 1898.
