Kvænangen is a municipality in the region Troms on the border with the province of Finnmark. It consists of the fjord of the same name with the main islands Spildra and Skorpa.
background
The seat of the municipal administration is in Burfjord. Europastraße 6 runs through the municipality.
On the ridge in the west of the fjord, south of the E6, there is a large, upscale tourist center with a hotel and hut called "Gildenun". Furthermore, about a third of Øksfjordjøkelen is in the municipality. A glacier tongue lies over the end of Jøkelfjorden and can be reached via Fylkesvei 365, junction from the E6 in Alteidet, or by boat.
Unfortunately, due to climate change, the glacier tongue has been on the decline for years.
