The Quiver Tree Forest, about 15 kilometers east of Keetmanshoop, is one of the attractions in the southern Namibia. Located on the Gariganus farm, it shows a unique collection of quiver trees, also known as quiver trees or kokerbooms, a type of aloes that otherwise rarely grow close to one another.

Quiver trees grow up to nine meters tall and have a thick, smooth, waxy trunk. They owe their name to the fact that the Bushmen of Namibia have always carved quivers for their arrows from branches.
On Gariganus, for a small entrance fee, you get the opportunity to see a comparatively large number of these wonderful trees. A visit to the farm at sunset is recommended. Against the setting sun and the red Namibian evening sky, the quiver tree forest makes a fabulous photo motif.
If you don't want to pay admission, you can drive a little further down the street (C17) and enjoy being able to take a look at a larger collection of quiver trees.
