The city of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat is located on the Llobregat River and borders on the south of Barcelona. At the beginning of the 20th century it had around 10,000 inhabitants and was predominantly agriculturally oriented. The city now has over 250,000 inhabitants, some of whom were attracted by the economically strong Barcelona, and some are emigrants from southern Spain who came here in the wake of the Spanish Civil War.
