Skirt - La Falda

Skirt is a city located 78 km from the city of Cordova, Argentina, and 800 km from Buenos Aires. It has 15,112 inhabitants.

Travel

It has buses that connect it with the entire Punilla Valley and a long-distance bus terminal. The trip using the Sierras Train. In addition to National Route 38, there is the winding Square Road, recently paved and converted into Provincial Route E57, achieving an excellent communication route with the towns of Río Ceballos, Villa Allende and Córdoba.

The city has many attractions: starting with its pleasant microclimate; considered some years ago as the "Third Best Climate in the World"; old natural forests and implanted at the beginning of s. XX (the latter with trees from central and Mediterranean Europe: Oak trees, holm oaks, Pine trees, cypress trees, firs etc.)

Beautiful panoramic views, and the attraction of the Salto de las Seven waterfalls[1] near the lake of the reservoir built on the Rio Grande de Punilla, where you can practice water sports and sport fishing.

The city has several parks and promenades among which the Puma Park and that of The Golf Course.

  • The Eden Hotel (1900), gave rise to what is now the city, located at the end of Av. Edén. It has not worked for decades and it has been partially destroyed, but it is still a tourist attraction to observe it nestled, like a gigantic ship, in the foothills of the El Cuadrado mountains. This legendary hotel featured stately lounges, stately stairways, wide galleries, graceful towers, and the shady paths of its park.
  • National Tango Festival: Since 1964, when a group of friends dreamed of holding a tango festival that would promote the city touristically, and with the inspiration of tango elves, the city of La Falda managed to be the host and organizer of an important festival that year after year , in the month of July, it becomes the most anticipated meeting for city music lovers, having the honor of having had national and international renowned figures.[2]

On the other hand, the municipality has favored and favors varied cultural activities (on certain occasions important popular music recitals are held in the city of La Falda). In addition to a very good hotel infrastructure, there are restaurants, campsites, spas and night clubs.

  • 20 km from the city, is the Pampa de Olaen. On this site there is a Jesuit chapel of 1750; inside which pieces of artistic value are preserved, among them the image of Santa Bárbara. These lands were part of the stay of Bishop Salguero y Cabrera who donated them for the maintenance of the San Roque Hospital.

  • El Sauce Caverns: close to La Falda, just 8 km within the Pampa de Olaen, is found as one of the most interesting phenomena in Argentine geology. This cavern, which with a length of approximately 1000 meters becomes the longest in the province, due to its characteristics it is suitable for visits with a specialized guide for the general public under the modality of speleotourism, as well as for those interested in research scientific, and the practice of speleology, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
  • La Candelaria Jesuit Ranch: the Jesuits They made this place an excellent mountain establishment producing extensive livestock, mainly mule, which was destined to the traffic of goods to and from the Upper Peru. It is located about 50 km from La Falda, entering the road to the Pampa de Olaen.
