The Lake Llanquihue is a lake in the Little South of Chile. He's after that Lago General Carrera the second largest lake in Chile and the third largest in South America. The neighboring, cone-shaped and glaciated volcano Osorno characterizes the landscape.

The lake forms the center of what is known as Chilean Switzerland and is an important tourist destination. German settlers settled around Lake Llanquihue in the 19th century, and their descendants continue to shape the region to this day. The lake is flanked by the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco in the east, which offers a spectacular panorama. With an area of 877 km², it is about one and a half times the size of Lake Constance.

Puerto Varas
The city on the western edge of Lake Llanquihue is the tourist center of the region. It offers numerous hotels and accommodation as well as restaurants, cafes and a craft market.
Frutillar
Frutillar on the west bank of the lake is known for the Teatro del Lago, a festival theater built on the lake shore and for its wooden architecture reminiscent of Switzerland. Puerto Octay
The village on the northern edge of the lake is characterized by its German colonial architecture and as a starting point for the Cascada waterfall and offers several restaurants and simple accommodation.
Ensenada
The settlement on the south bank of the Llanquihue is the starting point for the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and the Osorno volcano and the Saltos de Petrohue.
