In the street

US 89 runs over the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge. One mile west of the bridge, Wahweap Blvd / Lake Shore Dr leads to Wahweap Marina. Coming from the west, Wahweap Blvd leads to the village three miles east of the Utah border.

To the east of Page is Antelope Point. This marina can be reached from Page on the Az 98. After three miles the IR 222 heads north and after five miles one arrives at Antelope Point.

To the east of Lake Powell - about 96 miles upstream from the Glen Canyon Dam - the Ut 276 runs north and east to the ferry - Halls Crossing - across the lake. On both sides of the ferry terminal, access roads lead to Halls Crossing and the Bullfrog Marina.

At the end of the lake - about 140 miles upstream from the Glen Canyon Dam - the Az 95 crosses the Colorado on a bridge. To the southeast of the bridge, access roads lead to leisure facilities on the lake. The associated Hite Marina is currently closed due to low water levels.

Tourist Attractions

Lake Powell is entirely within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Admission is USD 7.00 per person entering the area on foot or by bicycle for seven days and USD 15.00 for cars. The annual pass costs USD 30.00 and the one-year Interagency Pass costs USD 80.00. The annual fee for sailing on the lake with your own boat is USD 30.00, a week costs USD 16.00. There are special fees for using the facilities along the lakeshore.

Defiance House is one of the best preserved cliff dwellings of the Anasazi, in which one can also see some well preserved rock carvings. It is located approximately 106 miles upstream of the Glen Canyon Dam or ten miles upstream of the ferry dock at Halls Crossing. From here follow the middle arm of Forgotten Canyon for three miles.

Hole-in-the-rock, a prominent waypoint on the Mormon Hole-in-the-Rock Trail, is a half-mile hike along the trail. The starting point of the hike is 66 miles upstream of the Glen Canyon Dam.

Rainbow Bridge National Monument is one of the largest known stone arches in the world. The approach to the arch begins 49 miles upstream of the Glen Canyon Dam. Take the boat up Forbidding Canyon two miles to a pier and then hike two miles to the stone arch.

Almost all water sports are possible on Lake Powell. Boats, jet skis and water skis are rented out at all marinas. Houseboats can be rented at the Wahweap and Bullfrog, as well as at the Antelope Point Marina.

Fishing is possible all year round, both alone and with a guide, after obtaining the appropriate license.

Ship and boat tours to the various attractions are offered from the Wahweap Marina. These are day tours to the Rainbow Bridge National Monument and several hour trips to various side canyons of the lake. "Dinner cruises" can also be booked.

The water temperatures are around 23 ° C in summer.
