The Luxor Museum, Arabic:متحف الأقصر‎, Matḥaf al-Uqṣur, is an archaeological museum in Luxor. It presents archaeological finds from the area around the city from the period between the 12th Dynasty and the Coptic Period.

background

The Luxor Museum, which opened in 1975, is primarily dedicated to local finds from the former Thebes. On May 19, 2004, the exhibition “Thebes Glory”, or “Thebes Glory”, opened in the newly built museum annex. The exhibition is now divided into three parts.

The museum is open from October to April from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., from May to September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The admission price for foreigners is LE 140, for foreign students LE 70 and for Egyptians LE 20. A photo ticket costs LE 50 for photographs without flash (as of 11/2019).

The Luxor Museum is halfway between the city center and the Temple of Karnak on the Corniche el-Nile. It can be reached on foot and by taxi.
