The Lónsöræfi is a nature reserve in southeast of Iceland at Hofn.

The Lónsöræfi nature reserve is characterized by mountains, valleys and wastelands in complex shapes and colors. The mountains, some over 1000 m high, surround the area on three sides.

With the public bus Hofn – Egilsstaðir according to Stafafell.
bases
- Stafafell - The youth hostel offers 40 beds and a campsite.
- Múlaskáli hut - You can reach the hut via the F980. Buses go there from Höfn. From Illikambur (parking lot) it is another 4 km to the hut. The hut can accommodate 30 people. Camping is possible.
- Snæfell hut - From Egilsstaðir through Fljótsdalur via the F910 to Snæfell. The hut can accommodate 65 people. Camping is possible.

Day hikes are possible. There is a map and tips in the youth hostel. Guided tours are also offered.
Múlaskáli Hut (Nature Reserve Base)
The hut warden / ranger will be happy to provide information.
- Explorations the surrounding area
- Circular hike - Duration approx. 4 hours. - Along the Jökulsá í Lóni, then into the mountains to a waterfall and raised bog.
- Jökulsá í Lóni Gorge - Duration approx. 2 hours - Along the Jökulsá í Lóni to the waterfall. Same way back.
Snæfell Hut (nature reserve base)
The hut warden / ranger will be happy to provide information.
- Explorations the surrounding area
- Snæfell summit - Duration approx. 6 hours - marked path
- Circumnavigation of Snæfell - Duration approx. 12 hours - also as a two-day tour.
- Eyjabakkar and the Hálslón reservoir

Marking: yellow stakes, walking time approx. 5 hours. The hut offers space for 22 people. Camping is possible.
- Egilsel Hut - Geldingafell Hut64 ° 41 ′ 41 ″ N.15 ° 21 ′ 41 ″ W. (approx. 17 km)
The hut can accommodate 16 people. Camping is possible if necessary.
- Geldingafell Hut - Eyjabakki (approx. 18 km)
Overnight in a tent.
- Eyjabakki - Snæfell Hut64 ° 48 ′ 15 ″ N.15 ° 38 ′ 36 ″ W. (approx. 10 km)
The hut can accommodate 65 people. It is located on the F 909 slope. Camping is possible.
