Malatya is a city in Eastern Anatolia in the Turkey and has approx. 380,000 inhabitants.

As early as the Bronze Age, the city grew into a regional Hittite center under the name of Melid. When the Hittite empire in the 12th century BC When the city collapsed, the city came under the influence of the regional Hittite kingdom Carchemish. But the city was exposed to constant attacks by the Assyrians in the 7th century BC. Chr. Laid in rubble and ashes. The survivors rebuild the city under the name Melitene. This then quickly came under Persian, Seleucid and Roman rule.
