Malbuisson is a French commune, located in the department of Doubs in Franche-Comte, on the edge of Lake Saint-Point.
Understand
The village nestles in the massive heart of the Jura, more precisely in the Haut Doubs, a region stretching from Morteau to Chapelle-des-Bois, where the altitude is greater than 800 meters. It is a country of medium mountains, on the outskirts of a depression overlooking the Swiss plain to the west, with for passage a cluse (collapse) between Jougne and Vallorbe (Switzerland), overlooked by the highest point of the Doubs, the Mont d'Or (1 461 m).
On a balcony above Lake Saint-Point, between the water and the forest, the village of Malbuisson stretches for two kilometers between the Vézenay, formerly a village in its own right, and the forest of Fuvelle. At the start of the 20th century, Malbuisson experienced significant expansion with the advent of tourism, made possible by the opening of a railway line called the "Tacot" between Pontarlier and Foncine. Then classified climatic station (alt. 900 m), Malbuisson became a destination popular with the notables of Pontarlier, Besançon, but also by some Parisians, fallen under the spell of the places and the possible activities.
Since then, the town's economy has developed mainly around tourism and the village thus perpetuates this tradition by offering:
- cross-country ski trails, trails for mountain biking, hiking or snowshoeing on the surrounding mountains
- sailing, boat, pedal boat, fishing and swimming on the lake
- quality hotels and restaurants, and many shops offering, among other things, local products
- unspoiled nature both in the forest and in the lake
