The village Mandisha (also Mandisha, Arabic:منديشة) Is located about 8 kilometers east of the city el-Bāwīṭī in the valley el-Baḥrīya in Egypt.

The village is located about 8 kilometers east of el-Bāwīṭī. With 9,016 inhabitants in 2006, Mandīscha is the second largest settlement in the El-Baḥrīya basin.[1]

In 1980 there were 2200 inhabitants in 480 households. In 1981, around 61,000 date palms were planted on the 800 feddān (340 hectares) of land. Already at this time the water came exclusively from deep wells. The old ones have now dried up. In 1818 the village had 600 inhabitants after Cailliaud, in 1897 after Ball 1,800 inhabitants and was at that time the largest village in the valley.[2]

It is reported that the name of the village derives from the daughter of a king who is said to have resided here in the past. Also belonged to his sphere of influence Quṣūr Muḥārib.[3]

Apart from the tombs at the foot of the Gebel Mandisha, there are no ancient sites in Mandisha.

The buses from Cairo to el-Bāwīṭī stop in Mandisha too.

The village can be reached either via el-ʿAgūz or via trunk road 10 from Cairo to Bāwīṭīby turning north about 6 or 7.5 kilometers before el-Bāwīṭī (1st junction: 1 28 ° 20 ′ 32 ″ N.28 ° 55 ′ 39 ″ E, 2nd branch: 2 28 ° 20 ′ 36 ″ N.28 ° 56 ′ 26 ″ E). A second route leads through the village el-ʿAgūzthat one leaves in the northeast. After about four kilometers you will reach Mandesha in the far north.

The village offers, apart from its old settlement parts, hardly anything worth seeing.

Two landscapes just outside the village are worth a visit: On the one hand, there is the small, about 500 meter long shifting dune 1 Ghurūd Mandishah(28 ° 20 ′ 51 ″ N.28 ° 55 ′ 32 ″ E), Arabic:غرود منديشةWhich is located about 800 meters west of Mandisha.
