background

The North Coast Road to Macaras Bay was built by American soldiers and completed in 1944. The fishing village of Maracas Bay Village is meaningless. The 2 km long, wide sandy beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. During the week it is almost deserted, on the weekends many people from Port of Spain come.

In addition to the fishing village of Maracas Bay Village, there is also that on the island of Trinidad Mountain village of Maracas. This is only 6 km as the crow flies southeast of Maracas Bay. However, there is no road connection from the fishing village to the mountain village. The mountain village of Maracas can be reached via the Eastern Main Road and shortly before the small town of Tunapuna you turn north onto the Maracas Royal Road. The road runs 7.5 km through the valley of the Maracas River into the mountains.
