  • Hana - Isolated center at the extreme eastern tip of the island, Hana can be reached via a road that climbs the mountains among dense forests. Hana receives abundant rains, which explains the lush greenery that surrounds it. There are numerous streams that form waterfalls and natural pools in the upper reaches.
  • Kaanapali - First seaside resort you come across when you leave Lahaina heading north, Kaanapali boasts many luxurious hotel complexes.
  • Kahului - Very close to the international airport, Kahului and its port are located on a deep water bay on the north coast.
  • Kapalua - Located even further north, Kapalua is another luxury seaside resort with the added prerogative of huge golf courses. The stretch of coast north of Kapalua is characterized by a long series of lonely and pristine beaches.
  • Kihei - South ofairport, Kihei is a seaside resort on the southern side. It constitutes a fallback solution for those who cannot afford the luxury of hotels in Kaanapali is Kapalua.
  • Kula - At the western slopes of the "Pu'u Kukui" volcano, Kula is an agricultural village in the center of a wine-growing area.
  • Lahaina - Once a whaling port, Lahaina is now the most popular of the seaside resorts on the western side. This doesn't mean it's the best place on Maui. Discarding it from your list wouldn't be such a bad idea.
  • Maalaea - Located between Kihei is Lahaina, Maalaea is swept by impetuous winds, a feature appreciated by windsurfers but not by other categories of tourists.
  • Makawao & Pukalani - Two inland centers whose economy is based on agriculture and not on tourism.
  • Olowalu - A point on the coast south of Lahaina which was the scene of a massacre in 1790. Today it attracts snorkelers. On its beaches, turtles come to lay their eggs.
  • Pairs - To the east of the international airport, Paia boasts many beautiful beaches in its surroundings where surfers and windsurfers congregate.
  • Wailea and Makena - Located further south of Kihei, Wailea and Makena are two beach resorts specially planned to meet the needs of mass tourism. They were once very arid areas but from 1970 onwards they transformed as if by magic into very green areas thanks to the inauguration of an aqueduct. Makena has a marina and is an excellent base for mini cruises to the Ahihi-Kinau nature reserve where the waters abound. green turtles.
  • Wailuku - Administrative center of the island of Maui, Wailuku is encountered as soon as you leave the airport going west. Like all the area around the airport, Wailuku is not a tourist center but a place where you live and work.
