Mazeri is the most famous village in Becho community, Upper Svaneti It is about 20 km away from Mestia in an amazing valley Dolra River, 1600 meters above sea level, surrounded by vast green meadows and snow-capped mountain peaks. Mazeri is now the one Base for several most beautiful trekking routes SvanetiOnce this land was in the possession of the Dadeshkeliani princes there was a 10-story tower that the owners exploded in 1921. The ruins can still be found near the village. Tourism in Svaneti probably began to develop from this village . Here thru Becho Pass many tourists and climbers came, as this pass is the most convenient for crossing from Russia to Svaneti. In addition, many climbers who come to conquer Ushba were in Becho.

getting there

There is currently no public transport that goes directly to Mazeri. The nearest public transport route is Zugdidi - Mestia main road. If you go by marshrutka from Zugdidi, you should go up about 16 km before Mestia, turn around near Becho (Mazeri). From this point at Mazeri is about 7 km. You can walk this distance in 1-1.5 hours, or you can pick up someone from your pension here. It is also possible to ALWAYS hitchhike.
