Middle Egypt (مصر الوسطى) is a region ofEgypt extending along from the Nile valley, approximately between the cities of Beni Suef (120 km south of the Egyptian capital Cairo) is Qus (30 km north of Luxor).

Several attractions of primary importance for travelers are located outside the main population centers of the region but can be visited using one or more of them as a base camp.
The main archaeological sites from north to south are:
- Abydos - Site of the magnificent remains of the temples of the Ramesside and Predynastic (or prehistoric) period. Accessible from the small town of al-Balyana.
- Amarna - Site of the capital of the "heretical pharaoh" Akhenaten, which had a short duration, best known for its rock-cut tombs.
- Hasan goods - Place of fascinating tombs from the Middle Kingdom period.
- Dendera - Site of one of the best preserved temples of ancient Egypt.
- Medinet Madi - Fascinating archaeological site with the Middle Kingdom Temple dedicated to Renenut, the cobra goddess, accessible along a long avenue lined with sphinxes.
