Merzifon is a city in the Turkish Black Sea Region in the Turkey.

Finds in the area indicate the first settlements as early as the 6th millennium BC. Chr. The Hittites out Hattuşa finally built the first city complex here. But this was constantly exposed to the threat of the Kaskäer from the Black Sea coast. After the collapse of the Hittite empire came around 700 BC.
