The Mesoregion of Vale do Paraíba Paulista forms the north coast of St. Paul which is close to the border with Rio de Janeiro, and there is hardly another part of the state with such a variety of things to do. Probably the most popular are the beaches surrounded by the wild forest of the Serra do Mar National Park, but the Paraíba Valley also offers beautiful and historic 19th-century towns, mountain resorts in the fresh air, numerous options for ecotourism and vivid cultural manifestations of the caipira.
For those who come for study or business reasons, there are also important industrial cities along the Dutra highway (SP-060), including the largest city in the region, São José dos Campos, the aerospace capital of Brazil and one of the country's most important technology centers.

- São José dos Campos - The Brazilian aerospace capital and the largest city in the region.
- São Luiz do Paraitinga - City with a charming historic center, festivals caipira present all year round, and beautiful nature to be explored.
- São Sebastião - Seaside resort, with some of the most beautiful beaches in the state.
- Taubaté - The second largest city in the Paraíba Valley, in an excellent location for exploring the region.

Itineraries
- Historic Valley Circuit - A collection of small towns in the Paraíba Valley that had great importance during the 19th century coffee growing era. Most of the circuit can be visited using the Rodovia dos Tropeiros historic road, used since the 17th century, which connects Rodovia Dutra (near Cachoeira Paulista) for Bananal. The road passes through the cities of Silveiras, Areias, São José do Barreiro, Arapeí and Bananal, offering historic constructions, both in urban and rural areas, and splendid views of the Serra da Bocaina. Off-road Tropeiros, the circuit includes the cities of Cunha is Queluz.
- Mantiqueira Circuit - This circuit doesn't offer much in the way of historic buildings, but rather cool temperatures, beautiful nature and the fresh mountain air of the Serra da Mantiqueira. It is made up of the cities of Campos do Jordão, Santo Antônio do Pinhal, São Bento do Sapucaí, Pindamonhangaba, São Francisco Xavier (district of São José dos Campos), Monteiro Lobato is Piquete. Campos de Jordão is the most used base for exploring the circuit, but the high accommodation prices, especially in July, may make other cities consider. Taubatéwhile not part of the circuit, it can be an ideal base for those planning to explore other parts of the region.
- Religious Circuit - This small circuit is made up of the cities of Aparecida, Cachoeira Paulista e Guaratinguetá, offering historical and cultural attractions related to the Catholic faith.
