Central Delfland - Midden-Delfland

Midden-Delfland is a Township and a region in the urbanized west of Netherlands. It is the area between (clockwise from north): Rijswijk, Delft, Rotterdam, Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Maassluis and Westland. It is intersected between Delft and Schiedam by the partly underground A4 motorway. Between all these cities and urban areas it is remarkably wide and green. The area is therefore expressly intended for recreation and nature.

Villages and hamlets

Maasland, street view center
Schipluiden, old tram bridge (now it has also become a bicycle connection!)
Ship sounding from the horse bridge
't Woudt
  • The biggest place is Den Hoorn.
  • Ship ringing - a picturesque village along the canal De Gaag.
  • Maasland - picturesque quiet little place on the Zuidgaag, near Maassluis.
  • 't Woudt - interesting hamlet in the middle of the region.
  • The Zweth - hamlet near Schiedam and Rotterdam along the Delftse Schie canal.

Green

Cyclists and walkers are well catered for in the area. In recent decades, many options have been developed for touring. Unfortunately, Midden-Delfland also has a less positive name for nature lovers, because of the route of the A4 motorway. After years of discussions, the extension from The Hague to Europoort via Midden-Delfland is now being realized. The plan is to integrate the new highway as well as possible.

The Schieveensepolder also belongs to this region.
