Geographical notes
Middle Caicos is sometimes called Grand Caicos because being about 24 km long and 8/14 km wide, it is the Caicos island that has the largest size.

- Bambarra - Located east of Conch Bar about half a mile inland, this village is the second largest Middle Caicos settlement. It is the only city in the archipelago of Turks and Caicos to have a name of African derivation. The village was colonized by the Spanish survivors of the slave ship Trouvadore which sank off Middle Caicos in 1842.
- Conch Bar - The largest of the three Middle Caicos villages, Conch Bar, holds the island's airport, elementary school and government offices. Nearby Conch Bar Cave National Park, home to the largest above sea level cave system in the Bahamas. The limestone karst caves were used as a mine for guano during the 1880s.
- Lorimers - Located at the north-central end of the island, this inland village sits along the cove of a lagoon. It is the smallest of the three villages of Middle Caicos with a population of only 36 inhabitants.
How to get
By plane
- 1 Middle Caicos Airport (IATA: MDS) (Middle Caicos). It is historically the only airport on the island, however it is no longer in operation as the demand for planes to Middle Caicos has significantly reduced after the construction of a road with North Caicos and the increase in ferries from Providenciales. It is occasionally used by pilots for private flights.
There are currently no services that guarantee sea connections with Middle Caicos. If you are on Providenciales, your best bet is to drive to North Caicos and then drive to Middle Caicos.
By car
As of 2007, a causeway has been built over the sea connecting Middle Caicos to North Caicos. 1.6km long and recently restored, the North and Middle Caicos Causeway it is the only way to reach Middle Caicos. The road is very white on the sides and offers the incredible experience of being able to drive over the crystal clear water of the Caicos.
