Mobile Tensaw River Delta - Mobile Tensaw River Delta

The Mobile Tensaw River Delta is the largest river delta and wetland in Alabama. It covers around 110,000 hectares in a 64 by 16 kilometer area and is the second largest delta in the United States of America. It was added to the list of National Natural Landmarks in 1974. The Mobile Tensaw River Delta is ecologically important and encompasses a variety of habitats including floodplains, cypress-tupelo-tree swamps, tidal brackish water meadows, alluvial forests, and seagrass meadows. It is home to diverse wildlife with 126 fish, 46 mammals, 69 reptiles, 30 amphibians and at least 300 species of birds. Including more than 110 species of birds that breed here. The northernmost point of the delta is the confluence of the Tombigbee and Alabama rivers. The rivers divide further south into the Mobile River, Tensaw River, Apalachee River, Middle River, Blakeley River and Spanish River and flow into Mobile Bay.

By plane

Mobile is connected to the flight network of the major American airlines American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines.

In the street

The estuary delta is from the interstate I10 the Jubilee Parkway, coming from Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Pensacola and further direction New Orleans, Houston, and the highways H90 and H98 Crossed Battleship Parkway. The interstate crosses a little to the north I65 to Montgomery the rivers.

By bus

The big bus providers all run mobile at. Megabus offers connections after Atlanta, Gainesville, Montgomery, New Orleans, Orlando and Tallahassee. Coach USA to Atlanta, Montgomery and New Orleans. And then there is Greyhound Lines, the largest provider of long-distance bus routes.

By train

The entire region, including the city of Mobile, is not connected to the passenger rail network.

Boating and fishing are popular in the Mobile Delta. Boat ramps and water access points are abundant throughout the region. The Bartram Canoe Trail provides a system of waterways through which boaters can explore the delta. The area is known for its excellent bird watching opportunities. Hunting is a popular pastime in this area.
