Modena is a city ofEmilia Romagna in Northern Italy. Understand
The first traces of life on the territory of Modena date from the Paleolithic, of which statuettes of the time have been found. The foundations of the city date back to around the 6th century BC, when the area was occupied by the Etruscans, who baptized the city "Mùtina". The city passed into the hands of various tribes, then under the power of the Roman Empire (183 BC), which placed great confidence in Mùtina.The city was then the scene of various wars for the power of the Empire Roman, after which the power of the city returned to the bishopric, led in particular by San Geminiano between 358 and 397, San Geminiano who would become Patron Saint of the city.

- 1 Duomo Corso Duomo

On the north face is the Porta della Pescheria decorated with sculptures representing the twelve months of the year and the legend of King Arthur. Inside, the triple nave leads to an apse with a rood screen whose marble parapet was sculpted by Anselmo da Campione and represents the Passion of Christ. Under this balcony is the entrance to the crypt. - 2 Torre ghirlandina (86 meters high) Via Lanfranco open every day except Monday, Easter Sunday, December 25 and January 1, from 9 h 30 - 12 h 30 and15 h 30 - 19 h. 3 € (Palazzo Comunale Torre Ghirlandina: 4 €). – The Torre Ghirlandina, or garland tower, of which five floors were already built in 1169, was completed in 1319 by the corporation of masters of Campione.
