Mohéli (or Mwali) is an island in the archipelago of Comoros.

Background
Until 1830 Mohéli was part of the Ndzuwenie sultanate which he also controlled Anjouan. In 1830 immigrants from Madagascar led by Ramanetaka, who later changed his name to Abderemane, they took control of the island and founded the Sultanate of Mwali. In 1886 the France made the island a protectorate and the sultanate was crushed in 1909 when France decided to annex the island.
In 1975 Mohéli joined with the Grande Comore is Anjouan to form the State of Comoros. On 11 August 1997, Mohéli left the Comoros, followed by Anjouan after only one week. Mohéli then quietly met in the Comoros in 1998.

- Snorkeling - In spite of coral bleaching and man-made erosion, there are countless places to dive. The sea between Baobab and Maya, on one of the islets, has beautiful coral reefs.
