Moratuwa is a city in the Colombo district, it is located in the Western province of Sri Lanka

Moratuwa is located in the greater Colombo area and is the third largest city in the country with around 200,000 inhabitants. It is surrounded by water on three sides: in the west it is the Indian Ocean, in the south and east it is the Bolgoda lake, a broad, widely branched river that flows at Panadura flows into the ocean. As early as the Dutch colonial times, the lake was used to transport wood and spices, and wood is still processed on its banks today, be it as furniture or carvings. Another important line of business is the processing of caoutchouc and rubber. However, Moratuwa is known nationwide for its 1 Technical University .
