Ouro Grosso Nucleus Map

It is strategically located next to the Bairro da Serra community. It has served as a support base for events, courses, community meetings and access control to the Ouro Grosso and Alambari de Baixo caves.

Among its main attractions are:

  • Cave Ouro Grosso - 1 . is considered the most radical of the circuit. Access is from the Visitors Center for 150 m on foot along a dirt track, bridge and steep stairs to the main entrance. The cave is 1,100 m long and 192 m of unevenness, featuring a succession of waterfalls and deep water wells. The walk, about 100 m long, begins at a strangled gate and continues through the water to the base of the first waterfall, actually the only internal waterfall in the Ouro Grosso River.
  • Cave of Alambari de Baixo - 2 . the name given in honor of the Alambari river and "de low" given that there are two caves in this region. Access is from the Visitors' Center (now installed in the Ouro Grosso Nucleus) for 5 km on foot by road and well-defined trail. The access path to the cavity has steps and a bridge (pinguelas) crossing the Alambari stream. The cave has a descending entrance, dry upper galleries and is crossed by the river Alambari. In addition to the access trail, the cave has two wooden ladders to assist in descending and/or exiting the river as equipment to facilitate visitation. It can be traveled through a closed circuit (entry and exit through the same mouth) or by crossing (entry through one mouth and exit through another), in a stretch of 800 m in length.
  • Serra dos Motta Traditional Culture Museum - 3 (House of Flour).
  • Natural pool of the Betari River - 4 .
