Nabire is a city in the region Irian Jaya in the east of Indonesia. The city has 150,118 inhabitants.

Nabire is the capital of the regency (kabupaten) Paniai and this has the reputation of being "troublesome". There are many transmigrant villages in the vicinity and the transmigrants from Java cannot always count on the warm hospitality of the local population. As a result, the military presence is large and Nabire has quickly become a kind of garrison town. Nabire does not have much to offer tourists. Most roads from the city lead to the transmigrant villages.

Nabire has a small airport where Fokker 28 aircraft can land. Flights to Nabire are serviced from Biak and Jayapura, but flight schedules are not very reliable. Smaller places in the region are also served from the airport, including Enarotalia. The MAF, the airline of the local mission, also regularly visits Nabire.
The port is located about 30 kilometers northeast of the city and is served by the PT PELNI passenger ships, from serui and manokwari. A few years ago the ferry came out here too serui, it is unknown if this service still exists.
