The Biebrza National Park(Polish: Biebrzański Park Narodowy) is a national park in Poland. It is in the voivodeship Podlaskie at the river Biebrza at Osowiec-Twierdzawhere the administrative headquarters of the national park is located.

history

The park was designated in 1993 and covers almost the entire bed of the Biebrza River and its numerous tributaries.

landscape

The national park is 592.23 km² and is the largest national park in Poland.

Flora and fauna

It houses a swampy landscape in which moose, ruff, double snipe, sedge warbler, black tern, little tern and greater spotted eagle still live. The symbol of the national park is the ruff.

climate

Due to the location, the weather in the nature park is continental with cold winters and warm to hot summers.

getting there

Of Białystok buses drive to Osowiec-Twierdza. The national park is only about an hour's drive from Białystok.

There is a fee to enter the national park.

Hiking, biking and kayaking can be enjoyed in the park along the (water) hiking trails.
