Calanques National Park is a national park in France.
background
Located between Marseille and Cassis, the national park is famous for its many steep bays. During the summer months, the roads and sometimes even the hiking trails are closed due to the risk of forest fires, so that only the sea route remains. Many dozen boats leave the bays for sightseeing or swimming every day from the two cities mentioned above. The park comprises 8,500 hectares of land and 43,500 hectares of sea, is located in the municipalities of Marseille, Cassis and Ciotat. It is visited by 2 million guests annually.
