The Lanín National Park lies in the Argentine Andes on the border with Chile. It extends north of the Nahuel Huapí National Park around San Martín de los Andes to the Lanín volcano in the north. In the lake region in the south and near the border with Chile, the park is very rich in vegetation, while in the northeast it borders on the dry steppe ("pampa").

The best starting point for tourism in the region is San Martín de los Andes at the Ruta Nacional 40.
The region is also good from Chile (Pucón) reachable. Otherwise, you can travel via San Carlos de Bariloche or Neuquén at.

In addition to hiking, winter sports and many other activities around San Martín de los Andes, also leads the Avenida de siete Lagos through the southern part of the park (from San Carlos de Bariloche).
