Naxxar is a place in Northern District of Malta.

The village of Naxxar is now somewhat overshadowed by Mosta, which was even subordinate to it at the time of the Middle Ages, and extends at Salinas to the northeast coast of Malta. In the 19th century "Victoria Lines" established by the British cut this very rural area of Malta.

The region of the village Naxxar As finds in the caves of Tal-Qattara and Ta ’San Brinkaw and the remains of megalithic buildings in Tal-Qadi and Qaliet Marku show, it was inhabited as early as the Bronze Age. As in several other places, the "cart ruts" appear in the municipality of Naxxar, the cart ruts that were probably created in the Bronze Age, for example near the sea at Salina, at it-Tarġa and at Għadira tal-Wej. In the area of the city there are tombs from the time of the Phoenicians and the catacombs of Salina and Magabtab. The settlement probably received the place name at the time of the Arab occupation of the island.
The parish church of Naxxar was one of ten parishes in the enumeration of Bishop De Mello in 1436, the parish churches of Għargħur and Mosta were subordinate to it, in 1575 14 churches were already counted in Naxxar itself. With a population of 1,200, the town needed a new church at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The current parish church was built in 1616/30 according to plans by Tumas Dingli and the choir area was expanded in 1691 under Lorenzo Gafà

- The parish church 1 Our Lady of Victory was built in 1616/30 according to plans by the Maltese architect Tumas Dingli and expanded in the choir area in 1691 under Lorenzo Gafà. The altarpiece is attributed to the school of Mattia Preti and shows the birth of Mary, two other paintings by Stefano Erardi show the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt and the adoration of the Magi. In the sacristy there is a picture of the Madonna by Gio Maria Abela from 1595. A clock on the church tower shows the current time, the other is painted and stands at 11.45 ... Procession carried through the streets originated in Rome.
- The chapel 2 San Pawl tat-Targa in the northern district of San Pawl tat-Targa was built in 1690/99. A stone column with a cross probably marks the place where the previous chapel in the 16th century. had confessed. The statue of the Apostle Paul in front of the church is directed towards the place where the shipwreck is said to have occurred. The funds for the statue, which was erected in 1770, were raised through a collection among the local residents. Paul is said to have preached here so loudly that he was heard as far as Gozo.
- The chapel of Santa Marija Tax-Xagħra was built around 1653 on the foundations of an older church and rebuilt in the Renaissance style. Necessary renovation measures were carried out around 2005.
- The double chapel of 3 Santa Lucijja / Kappella valley-Vitorja. After an older chapel had existed at this location, the Santa Luciija chapel was built around 1650. Together with the Kappella tal-Vitorja, it carries a small bell tower.
- The chapel in the area of the hamlet Ħal Pissa on Wied il-Għasel (the honey valley north of Naxxar and Mosta) 4 Kappella ta 'Santa Katerina was built in 1607 at the expense of Marianu Mangion.
