The Northern District is a district on the island Malta, which includes the area in the northwest of the capital region.

Maltese (this language with Semitic roots, which is similar to Arabic, is written with Latin letters) and English are spoken as official languages in Malta, and a good knowledge of Italian has often been the case in the past.
getting there
Most travelers arrive in Malta by plane, from Malta International Airport in Luqa can be reached by bus to the localities in the north of Malta.
The express bus line X1 leads from the airport Luqa initially towards Valletta (Change to Paola), but then runs over to the north Mellieħa to Cirkewwa to the ferry port Gozo.
The express line X3 connects Rabat resp. Mdina With San Pawl il-Baħar and Buggiba.
The bus routes 41 and 42 lead off Valletta (or the central bus station in Floriana) to the north over Mellieħa to Cirkewwa. The bus route 44 connects Valletta With Mġarr and the Golden Bay in the north-west.

The easiest way to get around locally is with the vehicles of the well-developed bus network of the Maltese bus company Arriva, alternatively by taxi or by (rental) car.

The security situation is unproblematic and crime in the small island state is low. The usual precautionary measures should nevertheless be observed.
climate
The island has a dry Mediterranean climate, in summer it can get extremely hot for sightseeing tours, swimming is possible from May to October, and diving is practiced almost all year round in certain places.
