Nemours is a municipality of about 13,000 inhabitants located in the Gâtinais, in Seine et Marne south-east of Paris.

Understand

Nemours is known to be a historically rich city. There are traces of human dwellings dating from Paleolithic. In the Middle Ages, the city was part of a seigneury and became the capital of Gâtinais. From this period we find the castle and the church. The city was also set on fire during the Hundred Years War. It was in the castle, in 1585, that theedict of Nemours prohibiting Protestant worship.
