Ne'ot Smadar is a kibbutz in the southern Negev in Israel, it is known as an artist village.
background
On the site of the abandoned kibbutz Shizafon was made in 1989 by a group of artistically gifted daring people Jerusalem the kibbutz Ne'ot Semadar founded with the aim of establishing an artists' village. Apart from a few preserved agricultural buildings, the entire infrastructure was rebuilt.
The most distinctive building is that Art Center, which with a pink color and the peculiar air cooling tower looks like a castle from the fairytale morningland and was designed and built entirely by kibbutz members.
The kibbutz operates Agriculture on biological basis, Goat breeding, cultivation of olives, vegetables, herbs and wine. In the Winery the locally made wine can be tasted in the Dairy goat cheese is sold. The kibbutz community runs a vegetarian restaurant at the intersection, and local products are offered in a shop. The whole green oasis is supplied with completely recycled water.
The kibbutz provides a third pillar Guest houses which a little further east in Ya'Alon are located; there is also the possibility of working as a Volunteer.

By plane
Many foreign travelers end up in the airport Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Avivbut the place is also easy from Eilat reachable from wherever you are on the 1 Ramon International Airport Eilat
(IATA: ETM) lands.
By train / by bus
The Negev is not accessible by rail.
The line 392 of Be'er Sheva to Eilat the Israeli bus company Egged stops at 2 Bus stop at Shizafon Junction, from here you can reach the entrance and the Art Center in approx. 1.7 km.
In the street
On the main street 40 which of Be'er Sheva in a southerly direction over Mitzpe Ramon to Eilat leads (Not the route 90 through the Arava valley), stay on the 3 Shizafon Junction on the 40 (and does not bend on the 12 on which you pass Eilat Ovda Airport can also achieve) that 4 Driveway Access to Ne'ot Semadar is 1.5 km away.
At the gate you have to register as a visitor to the Art Center register by telephone (972 (0) 54 9798966), whereupon the gate is opened electrically, the 5 Visitor parking is signposted on the left. The Art Center can be reached after 250 m on foot on a footpath accompanied by flowers.

- The core is that Art Center, a very striking pink building in the desert, which looks like a mixture of a building from Disneyland and an oriental dream castle. Most of the artists working in Ne'ot Semadar have their studios here and the art objects are sold in the gallery. The building has a peculiar tower that is used for air cooling: water was sprayed in the top of the hollow tower, evaporation cold is created and the air sinks, the cool, humidified air is distributed around the building via air shafts - this type of cooling without the use of air conditioning the designers have copied the old Persians. There is a water basin in the courtyard around the tower, stairs lead to the upper floor with its balconies, from where there is a beautiful view of the kibbutz and the surrounding area.

- in the Vinery the wine produced on site is offered, the wine produced according to biological principles is partly matured in the sun in glass balloon bottles, which makes it similar to port wine; A herbal wine sold in small bottles and the organic one is also a specialty olive oil.

- The products from the kibbutz are also offered for those passing through in the shop in the kibbutz restaurant at the main street crossing.

- The Pundak Ne'ot Semadar restaurant at the intersection 40/12 it almost disappears between the tall trees, behind the building you can sit comfortably under the shade trees in summer. On the menu are salads and vegetarian specialties, for which products from the organic cultivation of the kibbutz are used almost entirely.
