background

Welcome to New Glarus

New Glarus is a small community in Wisconsin, also known as America's little Switzerland. New Glarus was founded in 1845 by immigrants from Switzerland. Nestled in the beautiful hills of Green County, Wisconsin, this small, lovely community has retained its Swiss charm to this day. From alpine architecture to colorful, flower-adorned windows to original Swiss cuisine, you will find a lot of the typical culture here. Many buildings and shops are written in German and you occasionally meet people with Swiss surnames.

Both roads lead to Hwy 92 where you have to drive west. Highway 92 then leads back to Hwy 69 and thus directly to New Glarus. Simply take Hwy 69 from Monroe.

mobility

Map of New Glarus

Once you arrive by car, the car is also a very good means of transport in the village itself. Parking spaces are available in many places, but the car can often simply be parked on the side of the road. Since New Glarus is quite small, walking is just as easy. Practically all sights and restaurants are within walking distance, and since long distances are generally covered by car in the USA, a walk is a welcome change. Since it is also possible to rent bicycles (see Activities), this is another way of exploring the village. Public transport, on the other hand, does not exist in New Glarus.
