Wisconsin is a state in the region Middle West in the United States of America. It borders the to the north Upper Lake and to the Upper Peninsula Michigans, in the east to the Lake Huron, in the south Illinois and in the west Iowa and Minnesota.

Wisconsin is famous for its cheese making. Many companies offer tours of their production facilities (Overview).

The division of Wisconsin into regions is inconsistent in the literature. Here in Wikivoyage we use the following structure for practical reasons:

The most densely populated region.

southwest: 
Characterized by lovely hilly landscapes.

Highlands: 
Lonely region in the north of the state, on the edge of the "Upper Peninsula" of Michigan.

Madison
The capital Madison is characterized by its location between 3 lakes (and some smaller ones). Definitely worth seeing is Capitol Hill with the symmetrical State Capitol. Head west from Capitol Hill into a very busy shopping street. Also recommended are the university and the ice cream at Michael's, a mixture of soft ice cream and milk ice cream.
Milwaukee
With about 600,000 inhabitants it is Milwaukee the largest city in Wisconsin.
New Glarus
About 40 kilometers south of Madison is the community founded by Swiss immigrants New Glarus.
