New Orleans is the largest city in the US state Louisiana. New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, cocktails and the relaxed way of life, has hit the headlines in the past few months due to Hurricane Katrina. It will certainly be years before the most European of all American cities will recover. But to be clear: the floods mainly affected the surrounding residential areas and everything should be done to help the victims. The historic old town, the elegant Garden District and the plantations in southeast Louisiana, on the other hand, have not been damaged. Hotels, restaurants and historical sites are open to the public. And to the question of how you can help the people here, there is a simple answer: Come and visit us and have a lot of fun here - as always.
