Other goals
- Morvan, regional nature park with artificial lakes created from the 11th century, ideal for hiking, water sports (canoeing, sailing or pedal boating), horse riding or mountain biking; good starting points for the region are Lormes, Saint-Brisson and Ouroux-en-Morvan
- Val-de-Loire nature reserve, to the west of Nièvre the Loire still flows wildly and unregulated, branches off into meandering arms, which later unite again and thus form numerous river islands. This results in a unique ecosystem in which, among other things, salmon and migratory birds cavort. You can explore the area on nature trails or on guided river walks by boat or canoe. The visitor center is located in Pouilly-sur-Loirewhere, by the way, there is also a magnificent castle.
- Canal du Nivernais, Connection between Loire and Seine, one of the most scenic canals in France, suitable for sailing with pleasure boats and houseboats, lined with a largely paved bike path.
