getting there

Distances

By plane

The domestic and low-cost airport Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK) is about 15 kilometers from the center of Nonthaburi. The taxi ride costs about 230 THB (excluding traffic jams). It is 40 kilometers to Nonthaburi from Bangkok Sukhumvit International Airport (BKK). A taxi price of THB 350 plus THB 50 airport surcharge and about THB 100 expressway toll can be expected.

By train

Nonthaburi does not have a train station.

The purple line of the Bangkok Metro has been running from the station since 2016 Tao Poon in the north of Bangkok (transition from the blue line from the center) to Nonthaburi. She has the stops Yaek Tiwanon, Ministry of Public Health (Ministry of Health), Nonthaburi Civic Center (Nonthaburi Administrative Center), Bang Krasor, Yaek Nonthaburi 1, Phra Nangklao Bridge (Phra Nangklao Bridge), Sai Ma and Bang Rak Noi - Tha It.

By bus

There are also numerous bus routes from various parts of Bangkok to Nonthaburi. For many travelers, for example, line 203 from Sanam Luang (Grand Palace) in the heart of the old town directly to the large market in Nonthaburi is practical. Since it is tied to the road, it takes a very long time, especially during rush hour.

In the street

The same applies to a taxi ride. The expressway, which is subject to a charge, can shorten the journey time somewhat (the toll has to be paid by the passenger), but you can still be stuck in traffic for a long time on the way to your actual destination. From Siam Square z. B. in moderate traffic with a fare of about 310 baht, depending on how long you are in a traffic jam, but there can be significant deviations from it.

By boat

The fastest way to get from Bangkok city center to Nonthaburi by public transport is to take the express boats on the Chao Phraya River. The investor Nonthaburi (N 30) is the end point of the orange, yellow and unflagged line. The green line also stops here, but continues north to Pak Kret. This means that a boat leaves the center of Bangkok (e.g. central pier) at least every twenty minutes Sathorn / Taksinwhere a transition from the BTS Skytrain is possible, or Phra Athit near the “backpacker quarter” on Khao San Road), in rush hour traffic the frequency is even more dense. On the unflagged boats, which stop at each station, the single trip costs a maximum of 14 baht, on the orange flagged 15, on the faster yellow or green 20 baht. From Sathorn you should plan a good hour's drive, if you start further north, correspondingly less.
