the Northern Quebec is a region of Quebec to Canada covering the northwestern half of the province. It is the least populated region of Quebec and the northernmost region of the Francophonie. Its population is mainly made up of indigenous people.

The language of the non-native inhabitants of Nord-du-Québec is French. For their part, the natives use their traditional native languages, i.e. Cree language or one of its dialects, eitherinuktitut, the language of the Inuit. They learn theEnglish as a second language and use it to communicate between communities. Increasingly, many Aboriginals in Nord-du-Québec are also learning French, but English remains the main language used in Aboriginal communities.
