Both contain wetlands in the steppe, which provide rare habitat for various species of birds, many of which are endangered, as well as various other species of steppe flora and fauna.
- 4 Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve (Aqmola province) – Korgalzhyn differs from Naurzum for its population of flamingos.
